Leslie Barnard (née Hawkins) was born in Manhattan to an artist and an actress with terribly interesting lives, but she spent the bulk of her childhood in Central Park. After many years toiling at the Art Students League and the High School for Art and Design, and desperate for any view farther than a few blocks, Leslie escaped to Houston, Texas.
It was fine for a while, and she made excellent friends (and had a few kids, who grew like goldfish), but she eventually said farewell to the Lonestar State and headed west.
She now lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her husband, a rotating selection of her tall, tall children, and any animal lucky or vain enough to get close to her.
